NEXTGEN RECORDS GUY

the following is something i wrote for this page, but quickly realized i had a missing assignment. written at 2 am. sorry to the poor souls directed here from the class packet

When I was 10, I discovered Halley Labs, known to me as Lapfox. Later down the line (like... 12,) I was looking at the samples used in NAMx on whosampled. Specifically, I was looking for the angelic sounding sample that went "bring me a higher love" because it was so awesome. Because of that, for a while I would occasionally hear NGR songs over youtube due to discovering them from NAMx. Now 14, I wouldn't start using soulseek until sometime in 2023, so rave was hard to come by as I mainly relied on torrents and archive.org. Kept up with the YouTubing. So blah blah blah, fast forward I download shit from soulseek, turn 16, and 2025 hits me like a train. a newly observed cycle, the "canon event year", may take place. more on a canon event year in a future Rexionary entry (Woah, reference to my website that I wrote this for originally, but then realized I didn’t turn in the weird book!). 2025 is the designated canon event year, and this time dissociation is in the high. The only freedom from the unavoidable hell of falling off every three years is dissociation. Rex Splode & Angel Eyes by Brisk & Ham went hand in hand in my eyes, going as far as charting a Stepmania chart dedicated to him with the song. Angel Eyes is on loop constantly. Everything is calming down a little... and everything seems to be going smoothly... but that's what it was like before the June 2nd incident. Still be weary brothers, we're waiting on this year's June 2nd. And this is the perfect time to pick the forever character. I still like Rex, but I thought he would be the next character to be added to my "to the grave" favs along with Caliber and no one else. Renard may count but he's not on Caliber's level. I may be wrong about the addition to my favorites; again, I still have to wait for things to play out. Last canon event year, I walked out with Caliber. This year? Could very well be Rex Splode or the subject of this literature.
I got extremely off topic in that paragraph... anyways. Because of the heavy exposure to Brisk & Ham as well as an uptick of Mungyodance, I got uk hardcore poisoning. I mean, yes, I listened to uk hardcore a ton before then but now it's everything. This made some gears start turning in my brain, and I don't like it when they do that. "That character looks pretty cool, why don't I draw it?"
One of my online friends opened a whiteboard fox. I had already drawn Caliber and Rex Splode in there, and also written "my entire goddamn skeleton, dickhead" in cursive, but I got the urge to draw more. Try something I hadn't before, and I looked at what I was listening to last. It was a Next Generation Records song, not Angel Eyes, but still one with the mascot of the label on its cover. I think that character's pretty neat, I'd like to show my pride in my community and my hobby, so I pulled up a few references and drew away.
From there, I began drawing him more, and eventually he'd replaced Rex in the part of my mind that overwrites everything else because "you HAVE to think about this one thing constantly for the dopamine, actually." So... now I've made a reference sheet (because every render is crusty and vague,) headcanons, and self insert fanart. I just haven't posted any headcanons online yet, which changes now. [proud]
Writing this like it's a hyperfixation. While yes, it is, it also goes beyond that. Did I mention I'm the sole fan of this character? The next generation records guy?
